Here’s some videos and links from the NO on Prop 8 team. Wish I were there in Cali to help myself!

*Rev Debra Peevey*, Faith Field Organizer for the statewide anti- Prop 8 campaign in California needs our help. They’re looking for bloggers and others to post and email the No on 8 spots to get a viral campaign going that the news media will pick up. So send these out to everyone you know.

Illuminating interview comparison here:
So, Ms. Palin, are you for privacy or are you against abortion? You may have to…. choose.
(You may also have to know one or two basic things about Supreme Court history. Just some simple details, please. We understand far too well that you can handle tossing out sweeping generalizations, and that you think American history is great. But you might want to know some actual, specific facts, too, ya know. Maybe you could take some lessons from Mr. Biden about how to sound like a grown-up when you’re running for national public office.)

1. Paying taxes is patriotic. Supporting the country’s programs with money as well as time and energy (and blood?) is what coheres us as a nation. That’s putting country first.
We may argue about whether patriotism is a worthy quality of a Christian, but patriotism entails supporting your country, not just expecting it to support you. Tom Friedman writes about this at the New York Times.
2. The Adler Planetarium in Chicago that McCain’s been ripping on is amazing, but good, kinda like McCain’s anti-science campaign is amazing, but bad. $3m is not wasted on its ’stellar’ skyscape projection. That’s where I first learned about the solar system and learned the language with which I could explain what I was seeing on night hikes out at Girl Scout camp or in rural Michigan. Thousands of other school children in the Chicago area use the place just as I did. So back off the Planetarium!
This McCain is far too willing to blast basic research and fundamental educational tools. He could not care less about leading a country that better understands its world or is better trained to interact with its neighbors. McCain would be perfectly content with a nation of dunces. How is it patriotic to deprive the country’s children of education? What kind of a vision for the future is that? Why in the world would be not want a President Obama who holds a central priority of making our country a leader again in science and technology?
For more information, read about the Adler president’s response, in the Chicago Tribune.
