About the Brethren Priestess

I attended Lewis & Clark College, which was rated #1 for a student body least likely to talk about God. So of course I am now a seminary student.

I am politically and religiously radical, and I see no contradiction in being religious and radical. In fact, the reason I am an ecofeminist, socialist, fat liberationist, anti-racist, pacifist, vegetarian is that I was raised by progressive Church of the Brethren family and church communities in the Midwest. A prophet might not be honored in her hometown, but it’s hard to argue that the hometown didn’t shape her into the crazy prophet she is today.

My biggest pet peeves are emails sent without subject headings (unless they are intended to build the suspense for some really exciting content) and paper cups. The coolest things in the world are trees and people.

I hope that you might find some little piece of me on these pages so that you can remember your dear friend or familial relation, and feel closer connected to me. Feel free to leave witty comments, and if they are really good I will steal them and put them up as my own posts. Thank you for taking the time to visit this log!

    Subject: Muchas Gracias

Hello, I only just discovered your blog while searching for clothing of the Old Brethren. I KNEW you were a PSR seminarian before I found your blog! As one who spent nearly ten years at the GTU, as one who misses the Bay Area and the GTU soo very much, as one who misses a community that roganises, protests, and prays together, I just want to think you for evoking so many wonderful memories…and ask for your prayers that we might return to the Bay Area or Florence or someplaxe with seasons, Beauty, GLBT folk all around… una+

I just signed for an official looking package from the Pacific Shool of Religion, so I can only surmise that You now have a diploma and it is official. Congratulations.
Styrofoam cups and plates drive me crazy, but I have a tolerance for paper. We did finally remember to take our own mugs on vacation, so eating breakfast at the Comfort Inn did not entail using throw away cups. One step at a time.
    I love You
